MOSCOW, Oct 20 (PRIME) -- Diamond output of Russian uncut diamond mining giant ALROSA fell 6% on the year to 27.9 million carats in January–September due to lower output, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Less sands from alluvial deposits were processed at the Nurba plant because of adjustment of the 2016 production plan; less ore was produced at the Aikhal underground mine because more ore from the Komsomolskaya mine was processed at Processing Plant Number 8 following expansion works on the open pit; and open-pit mining at the Udachnaya pipe was stopped, ALROSA said.
Revenue from sales amounted to at least U.S. $976 million in July–September and at least $3.5 billion in January–September.
“Indicatively, in July–September 2016 ALROSA sold 8.3 million carats of diamonds, including 5.8 million carats of gem-quality diamonds at an average price of $165 per carat and 2.5 million carats of industrial diamonds at an average price of $7 per carat,” the company said
